Certainly there is a lack of gallery space in Orange County and outlets to present art in general.  Maybe the next time you see a for rent sign in a commercial space you should see about using it for a temporary artist space.  Contact us, we might be able to help -

The application is called Open Studio.

There, you can add galleries, search galleries and if you look at one of the images of artwork, there is a puchase option below each image.  You set your own price, etc.

This is super new with few people using it yet, but it’s an interesting new feature I thought I’d pass along. Links will most likely not work if you are not a Facebook user.

OK there are also a few things that need to be discussed about Facebook and most sites you upload images it.  You might be giving them some rights to those images you aren’t expecting to.  This is a must read for anyone before they upload images to another web site.

Now that being said, Open Studio’s terms of Service give you sole ownership: “Ownership. Artist at all times retains all right, title and interest in and to the Artist Material(s) provided by Artist hereunder (including, without limitation, the copyrights in and to the Artist Material(s)), subject to the non-exclusive rights in the licenses granted to Epicsaurus under this Agreement. Artist is free to grant similar rights to others during and after the Term of this Agreement.”

Facebook is definately a great place to network and keep admirers updated on your work.  If it’s a place for buyers, well…  we’ll see.  But I think that it’s a fantastic application for the right people, so give it a try.

Artists are invited to submit works for review for exhibition consideration in our G.A.S. Station for one – person shows. The 225 sq. ft space is situated within, but separate from the larger GAS galleries.The Project Room is well lighted, intimiate and is well suited for small to medium size works with a long counter top shelving and pedestals for small 3D works.

The month long solo shows can consist of wall works, floor works and/or installations. The openings will be coordinated with G.A.S. openings and exhibitions. If selected for a show, there is a rental fee and artists are responsible for hanging and/or shipping of art. Press releases will be combined with G.A.S. publicity and insurance and gallery sitting is covered by G.A.S. G.A.S. is an acronym for Gallery and Studio.

G.A.S. is an artist-owned and operated multi-media gallery, which presents solo and group exhibitions of a wide variety of contemporary art. Our monthly shows include cutting edge, experimental and unorthodox paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, and installations, as well as computer and functional art.

G.A.S. is also a venue for musical performances and video and film screenings, as well as poetry slams and performance art. We host panel discussions, slide talks, lectures and other culturally varied events on a regular basis. G.A.S. artists are a diverse group who live and work in the mid-Hudson valley.

The goal of G.A.S. is to present bold, challenging and ambitious exhibitions and performances that will simultaneously engage, entertain and enlighten the general public.
