U.S. vendors applying must provide appropriate documentation/proof that the arts and crafts they are selling are American Indian, Aboriginal and/or indigenous made (defined as a member of any federally or State recognized Indian Tribe, or an individual certified as an Indian artisan by an Indian Tribe), and may be marketed and sold as such in accordance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990, (P.L. 101-644), see www.doi.gov/iacb/act.html. Documentation must be attached to the NMAI Art Market Vendor Application.

Vendors are picked by a selection committee, with the deadline for applications set for 14 September.

Pine Bush is looking for more artists to join their arts tour.  All disciplines are welcome, for more information please contact Ellen Quimby at the Chamber.

The Tri-State Chamber of Commerce will be the lead sponsor for this year’s Port Jervis Arts Walk. The Chamber’s Arts Walk 2009 Committee, chaired by Evelyn Kish, owner of Cedarwood Center for the Arts, has set a date of July 18 for the walk, with a rain date of July 19. Hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

With thousands of attendees, the event showcases the area’s art and artists.

Lucille Devereaux (1922-1999) was active in the Middletown Art Group and spent the majority of her time living in Orange County.  While she did not pick up a brush in earnest until the early 1980s, her work is beautiful and was very active in the local arts scene.

BANKS OF THE HUDSON Woodstock School of Art – A national juried exhibition honoring the Hudson River 400 Celebration
August 8 – September 5

Open to artists, 18 years or older, living in the US. Submitted work must be inspired by, or depict the Hudson River from any location along its course, or include themes related to the Hudson River. Original 2D art work in any traditional medium except video and giclée copies, not to exceed 36″ in any dimension, including frame.

Artists are invited to submit works for review for exhibition consideration in our G.A.S. Station for one – person shows. The 225 sq. ft space is situated within, but separate from the larger GAS galleries.The Project Room is well lighted, intimiate and is well suited for small to medium size works with a long counter top shelving and pedestals for small 3D works.

The month long solo shows can consist of wall works, floor works and/or installations. The openings will be coordinated with G.A.S. openings and exhibitions. If selected for a show, there is a rental fee and artists are responsible for hanging and/or shipping of art. Press releases will be combined with G.A.S. publicity and insurance and gallery sitting is covered by G.A.S. G.A.S. is an acronym for Gallery and Studio.

G.A.S. is an artist-owned and operated multi-media gallery, which presents solo and group exhibitions of a wide variety of contemporary art. Our monthly shows include cutting edge, experimental and unorthodox paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints, and installations, as well as computer and functional art.

G.A.S. is also a venue for musical performances and video and film screenings, as well as poetry slams and performance art. We host panel discussions, slide talks, lectures and other culturally varied events on a regular basis. G.A.S. artists are a diverse group who live and work in the mid-Hudson valley.

The goal of G.A.S. is to present bold, challenging and ambitious exhibitions and performances that will simultaneously engage, entertain and enlighten the general public.
